Ever since I was a kid, I have enjoyed helping others in need. My childhood physician was like the doctor from “Little House on the Prairie” (Yes, I watched and actually liked the “not so manly” TV series). There was always a 2 hour wait to be seen but, when it was my turn, he was always calm, kind, and empathetic. Despite a lineup of patients, he would always sit and talk with me as if he had all the time in the world. He was a true healer and a person who made me realize that much of the impact of what we do in life is not so much about what we do but how we go about doing it.
I strive to emulate his persona in my own practice, sprinkling in a little humor when appropriate. They say that laughter is the best medicine and, for some people, it really is. If I can make a patient laugh or they tell me that I don’t act like a typical doctor, then I think I am doing a good job.
Outside of work, I am a laid back person who loves a good laugh and tries to dish one out as much as possible. My work schedule allows me a lot of free time to travel, snowboard, and hang out with friends. An adventuresome eater, I run and work out on a regular basis to support my eating habit. I like to scuba dive but I am not a great swimmer. In fact, I got passed by a 90 year-old guy at the pool so I might not be able to save you if you are drowning unless I have my floaties.
