Match says that a compelling headline and description are proven ways to improve communication and that I should represent myself in the best way possible and to complete them both. Now.
Well, ok then.
I’ll try to focus and attempt to describe myself here– and maybe at the end you’ll feel like you got to know me a little...
I am a special education teacher, and all I can say about that is :) :) :) :)!!! It is the most fulfilling and wonderful and crazy job I've ever had. And I have never been happier!!! I started this fall, and now that we're half finished with the year I can honestly say that I have never had a job that is a better fit for me. I am exactly where I need to be. And where I want to be. It's really very cool.
Other important things to know about me: I try hard to be a good person. Every day. And not just when I think other people might be looking. I try to see things from other people’s perspectives, and that can make a big difference in how I get along with someone. I may not like what you’re fundamentally all about, but I’m pretty sure it’s not my job to “fix” you. Or to change you into someone more like me. Or to treat you like something gross that I accidentally touched and am horrified because it’s sticky and won’t come off…If you’re gross and sticky, I’m not going to try and change you. I’m just going to politely go in another direction. Unless you need a hug. If that happens, I’ll have to think about it first and if the cost-benefit analysis comes out in your favor, well, it’s your lucky day :)
I’m very patient, even when waiting in line (which is a good thing because I always pick the longest line. Or the one where someone is writing a check. Who writes checks anymore?!? They’re rare, but I’ll find them). I think humor is one of the basic needs in life. It’s amazing what being witty at just the right moment can do. Or how silliness can be just the right way to make a weird 7th grade dynamic between a few students disappear. Works with adults sometimes, too.
I like to be outside. I have 2 dogs and we walk and hike a lot. I recently acquired a bicycle, and I had totally forgotten how fun riding a bike is! I am very disappointed in the lack of innovation in the comfort-level of the seat, though. Very disappointed.
So there’s a little about me- and I sort of feel that answers the ‘what I’m looking for ‘ question at the same time, doesn’t it? If you’re a mean, not funny, impatient, take yourself too seriously, indoors-y, dog-hating, bully, well we’re probably not going to be a great match. I’m not saying that mean in the snarky and witty sort of way doesn’t have its place, it does- some things just need to be said and snarky is sometimes the only way to say it. It’s all about the timing.
This got a little longer than I planned. So if you’re still reading this “compelling description”, maybe we’re off to a good start :)
