I just moved from NYC to Santa Monica. So glad I did given the winter on the east coast. But I also have enjoyed meeting people out here. I'm much more laid back than I am hyper, so SoCal suits me better than Manhattan. Waking up to birds chirping, blue sky and palm trees doesn't hurt much either. I guess i'm still in a bit of shock from that change. It's so quiet at night - no car alarms - beautiful, sweet silence.
I miss my family (including my 3 incredible nieces), but they were all very supportive with the move and that made me feel better about the decision. It has been a challenge adjusting to life out here, but a much welcomed change.
As far as social behavior, It's time people put down the mobile device and start communicating face to face. Don't you think? At least when you're out at a bar, enjoy the present company. I'd rather attempt to be surprised by meeting strangers around me than continue texting my friends the same old jokes. Although I like that too.
I hope my date is fun and likes to go out and enjoy life as I do. Let's try not talking about work - it's a fun exercise! Bonus points for who can make me laugh, for sure.
Other than that, give me a chance to take you out. I promise to be nice and considerate, while throwing the occasional curve ball and asking you lots of exciting questions in order to get to know you.
