Essay:
1. I'm really bad at writing a profile about myself, but I'm really good at making lists. 2. I'm originally from San Diego, and I grew up surfing, swimming, and playing water polo. I swam competitively all through college, and it was a big part of my life. I still love watching swimming on television, but now going to the pool strictly involves bikinis and tropical drinks with little umbrellas. 3. I love the San Diego Chargers. As a Chargers fan, I've learned to be very good at coping with severe (weekly) disappointment. 4. I'm looking for a guy with a great sense of humor. And by "great sense of humor," I clearly mean "my sense of humor." I want to find someone who makes me laugh and thinks I'm funny. 5. I went to school in Boston. I got my degree in nuclear engineering from MIT, where I often felt like the stupidest person in the room. However, I was also often the only person in the room who had showered that week and put on shoes that morning, so at least I had that going for me. 6. I'm looking for someone who can challenge me intellectually, but who also understands that I'm usually more interested in discussing reality television than discussing subatomic physics. 7. After Boston, I moved to Nashville for law school. I loved country music long before I moved there, but I think being in such an amazing city would make anyone a country fan. I'm always looking for live country music in DC and an excuse to put on my cowboy boots. I'm much more comfortable in a honkytonk bar than in a dance club. 8. I'm most comfortable at any bar that has an extensive and overly-pretentious craft cocktail menu. 9. I love animals, especially my dog Bella. I love animals way too much to eat them, and I've been a vegetarian for about three years. Don't worry--I have no interest in trying to get you to give up meat; it's a personal choice. 10. Unlike most people in DC, I'm not incredibly interested in politics. I describe myself as a conservative, but I'm definitely not extreme. I appreciate different view points, but if your idea of political discourse is blaming the Republicans and explaining why the current state of the economy is George W. Bush's fault, this is just not going to work out. 11. I'm old-fashioned when it comes to dating. I'm not interested in exchanging a million emails; I'd much rather get to know you face-to-face. I'm looking for someone who wants to take things slow and who believes that building a strong foundation is essential for a lasting relationship.
