I'm from the "other Washington" and while the Pacific Northwest will always be home, I consider myself too type-A for the west coast, but not quite type-A enough for DC. Working on foreign policy issues keeps me busy and more-or-less in DC - for now, at least.
I visited 30 countries by my 30th birthday, and I'm on pace to hit 40 way before my 40th. I was feeling pretty good about running my first marathon, then I realized Sarah Palin ran one 10 minutes faster.... I am , of course, training for another one. (Despite what that last sentence might make you think, I am really not all that competitive.) My favorite color is red. I try to commit at least one recipe to memory per year (kale is the vegetable of 2012). I like trivia, gelato, nice people, truffle oil, serendipitous encounters, getting caught in the rain (especially if there is a pina colada nearby), pencil skirts, witty banter, gardening, cocktails, inter alia.
