It is difficult to write about oneself and try and find the balance between conceit and merely being forthright. At net, I am great guy. I have great friends, a wonderful son and an exciting, interesting life. There is just a hole in it that you might be interested in filling.
My grandfather was a remarkable guy. He founded our company but was, in addition, insanely entrepreneurial. He became a large land owner in Indianapolis. In fact, the ground that the Indianapolis Zoo sits on was donated by him to the city. I think I inherited a bit of that spirit. We operate a manufacturing support fabricating company and I have my fingers in real estate development as well as a small start up organization.
I am an amateur road racer with a growing collection of modern and vintage race and street cars. Primarily Porsches. This has allowed me to remain athletically competitive at an age where many of my contemporaries are winding down. I don’t want to do that. This is a real passion of mine. I am not a total gear head but I do enjoy Formula 1 and road racing of just about any sort. The sport has allowed me to race on some of the great circuits in America: from Road America to Virginia International Raceway. It is also a great way to show my son the country.
My son is my life. Being a single parent comes with its own unique set of challenges, but, it is the best thing I have ever done.
I am almost finished remodeling a classic old Indiana Bedford stone house where I will live with my son. It sits in the village of Zionsville and I bought it primarily as it was with walking distance to his school. I am trying to be true to the classic architecture (except where it was really kind of ugly) and trying to bring a bit of a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspiration to it; without being too over the top. I have been lucky to find some real artisans to work on this project and it is going to be, modesty, something special. I cant wait.
I am a big guy. 6’5’ defensive end kind of big. I grew up in Indianapolis and have lived here all my life. I have legions of friends here, many of whom I have known, literally, since grade school. The thing about Indy, that may make it unique, is that the people here will always have your back. It is remarkable to me how loyal my friends are. Through thick and thin they are always there to help, in whatever way. In business or socially, in difficult times or when you are flying high, it doesn’t matter. They don’t change. I love that about this place. I hope they view me the same.
I like travel, dining, golf, football and basketball (Season tickets for the Colts and Butler basketball), waters sports ( I recently sold my boat which I keptd docked in Pass-a-Grille, FL. …it just didn’t make sense anymore with a 5 year old), Real Mexican food, sushi ( Sokura’s) old lounges (Marco’s) and fine dining (Sullivans, Capitol Grille). I like trips to Chicago for a Cubbies game and a George and Georgetti’s steak, and three day jaunts to Vegas (any more time and it just gets too weird). I like to cook but I would not classify myself as a gourmet, more of a ‘ throw that in there, it might work’ kind of guy. I guess with just my son and I it doesnt matter! I do like an occasion see-thru or 2 at the end of the day.
Drop me a line if you are interested in maybe getting together for a meal or a drink. I would love to hear your saga. Be well and keep cool.
