I'm a bookish adventurer - equally happy learning about new things with my nose in a book or on a week long trip somewhere new. I've had my share of fun and hard work in the past several years, but could do better on companionship, and hence have been making myself more and more open to the good that might befall from meeting someone online or otherwise.
I'm looking for someone who is as equally addicted as I am to learning new things, who is a little out of step with the mainstream, who has a kick of passion in their laughter and eyes. Of course - the counterpoints of each of these points also attract me - I also want someone who knows to make rituals out of reliable pleasures, who is easy-going enough to enjoy just about any setting, and who has a calming presence in their smile and embrace. I also love a sense of humor - thanks to those of you who somehow found a way to inject some humor into these profiles despite how excruciating they can be to write!
Looking into my past, I'm originally from Colorado, and got a bit of respect for the great outdoors and spirit of the West bred into me there, though I also moved around quite a bit growing up and picked up a strong Midwestern sense of politeness. Most of my adult life before LA was spent in the Bay Area, as a graduate student in biology at Berkeley. I have been in LA about four years now and I have a love for the natural setting and the endless exploration of food, music, and art that is possible, and an on-again/off-again bewilderment at the values that seem to be on display on the surface/street level of this city. Overall though - I quite enjoy it, and especially have taken to exploring the coast - whether it be surfing, diving, or sailing.
I also love a good quote or poem... at the risk of being mistaken for a literal drunkard (I wonder what kind of winks I'll have incoming) the tag-line above is from Baudelaire's fantastic poem Be Drunken.
