I love life and the adventure each day brings. I have a creative streak. I take chances and I learn something new each day, putting into my life exactly what I want to get out of it. I'm a rare bundle of many things. My closest friends say I am feisty, energetic, strong, and full of surprises. As much as I like to talk, I'm also a good listener and problem solver only upon request - so long as complex mathematics are not involved. Someone with ambition and a strong sense of ethics and values is very attractive to me. I appreciate someone that knows that a relationship is about giving as much as receiving. I'm looking for someone who appreciates me for who I am, what I do, and who can encourage me to be a better version of myself as they would also expect that of me.
I come from a strong Irish Catholic background and I have the sweetest most genuine sister that means the world to me, and a mother (incessant story-teller) who needs to hug and feed everyone she meets. I am supermom. I will never be one of those stay at home soccer moms who bake cupcakes into animal shapes and can make home decor out of tissue paper. I'm sure it looks fun, but I would prefer to be swinging off a rope in a tree over the lake or snow tubing down a mountain head first with my little spawn. I am the full time enforcer of a clever 9 year old engineer who insists I should strive to further my knowledge of everything Star Wars, ninjas, and Legos. I would do anything for him and he knows this all to well. I surround myself with people I can learn and grow from. I have amazing and diverse friends who are a large part of my life, they are my support system and I would do anything for them. Many of my friendships I have had since kindergarten and more recent friendships in the past few years have grown just as strong.
I enjoy weekly family dinners one night, ladies wine and wii another night, family cook offs, and at least once a month we're throwing some sort of theme party depending on the season. If we don't have a reason, we'll make one up. This is especially fun around Halloween and St. Patricks day, two of my favorite holidays.
The outdoors have always felt as close to home for me. I love being in the mountains and I'm game for anything lakeside or beachside. I love to run but only outdoors and not on a track. I do it just for me. It makes me feel as good as my jeans look. I love to ski. I tried snowboarding once, but it never caught on. Perhaps it was because I was the only child in the neighborhood whose mother wouldn't let her near a skateboard. I made up for it when I got my first pair of rollerblades as an older teenager, but that's a better story over a glass of wine or two.
I have an affinity for fine red wine. I prefer Old World reds. There is nothing I enjoy more than sitting by the fire or soaking in the tub with a glass full of an earthy red with notes of pepper and spice with a lingering finish. I enjoy pairing wine and food. I'm inclined to a Mediterranean diet as it is varied and delicious but far healthier than the meat and potatoes diet I was brought up on. I love grilling and fish! Almost daily in the summer everything is BBQ but you can find me in the middle of winter bundled up outdoors during a snowstorm firing up the grill just for trout. While I eat very healthy, I love to splurge on occasion with dark chocolate with sea salt. My greatest weakness is movie theater popcorn. I throughly enjoy cooking, not baking. My grandmother was blind and taught me how to cook everything from scratch by the smell of herbs and spices as they cook and she never measured anything. I've carried on her tradition.
I burn something at least once a year, I'm still working on that…
I would prefer a stout beer and a long game of pool or perhaps catching a friend's live band is nice once in a while too. Some of my friends are amazing musicians. Campfires and guitars are always favored. I'm a New England girl, so here's to the home team!
