My friends would (and have) described me as Jess from New Girl. As much as I have denied, I think they may be right... a little. I would assume a lot of late 20 and early 30 something girls could be described the same maybe. Most of my friends are married and either already have kids or are just starting to have them. It makes finding someone to date a little tricky when I spend most of my time hanging out at their houses which is why I'm on here. I never in a million years considered myself an active person, but in the last three years or so, I've found myself enjoying most outdoor activities instead of wanting to stay inside. I do a boot camp two - three times a week. I got a little burnt out on running after training for a marathon. After running the Rock 'n Roll half this past year, I've rediscovered my love for running. I'll probably be sticking with lower mileage races for a while! Signing up for them is a good excuse to exercise when I have no motivation. I like to head out to parks on the weekends to ride my bike, rollerblade, or walk/hike. I don't live too far from Forest Park and spend a lot of time there. I have a fishing license too and a tackle box full of cute, sparkly lures, but I have yet to catch a fish! I'm up for whatever adventure there is to be had and rarely turn down an invitation to get out and do something. Back in 2011, I basically dominated a homemade hot sauce competition between my friends when I won 5 out of 12 categories. I also took home the most awards for one person. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but it was quite an accomplishment considering I would be most likely to buy hot sauce at a store than make it myself. Just Google Bob's Habanero Hot Sauce to find my award winning sauce, and mine definitely did not look as good as the picture. That big win lit a fire inside of me to start cooking. My goal for 2012 was to learn to cook, but it's not nearly as exciting when your dish isn't being judged by a group. And I can't say I've been too successful, but I have made tamales, shrimp and grits, grilled chicken, and ginger liqueur. The last one counts as cooking because I had to use the stove and a pot to make it. ha! I'm going to keep trying with some simple dishes. I'm close to my family and consider my friends like family, too. I've been told on many occasions by friends (and they swear it's not the alcohol talking) that I am a really good friend and they're glad I'm in their lives. I aim to treat everyone the way I like to be treated. I'm loyal, respectful, and honest. I love to laugh. I make the most of any situation, and it takes a lot to get me upset. I'm not challenging you to try though! Haha!! :)
