I'm an easy-going, glass-is-half-full kind of person. I am not the jaded or cynical type unless it's a really BAD day. Those don't happen too often, though. I love to laugh and surround myself with friends who share my sense of humor, which can be twisted at times. I don't expect them to do all the entertaining, though, as I consider myself to be a funny and witty person too. I'm an intelligent person - enjoy watching documentaries and PBS specials. I also enjoy what I like to call "brain candy", though, so while I might listen to NPR on the way to the salon, I'll be reading the People magazines once I get there. I like being outdoors whether it's sitting outside and reading, walking in the park, or hiking/camping. I try to stay healthy and somewhat active. I started running 5Ks races a few years ago. I use the term running very loosely as it's more of a slow jog with some walking involved :), but it's a good way to keep me motivated to stay is shape. Last year I completed an Olympic distance triathlon with Team in Training. I never thought I'd participate in a triathlon but I really enjoyed it. I participated in sprint tri later the same year & would like to do it again. The cycling is my favorite part of a triathlon. Maybe one day I'll get a road bike so I can enjoy it even more - I've been using a mountain bike with road tires. Most recently, though, I ran my first half-marathon - the Atlanta Half on Thanksgiving morning. It was a very rewarding experience. The environment is important to me and I try to do my part by recycling & feel a twinge of guilt when I have to throw away a glass bottle. On the weekends you might find me at Piedmont Park, watching a UGA game with friends, vegging out on the sofa, or getting ready for a night on the town. I love to try different restaurants, whether it's a Korean place on Buford Hwy or a well-reviewed new restaurant in Midtown. I also enjoy traveling and experiencing different cultures. I am open-minded and want the person I'm with to be open-minded as well. I've been to India, several European countries, and a handful of places in the U.S.. I'd like to travel more, especially since I have summers off now. NYC is one of my favorite places. I've been 3x and am always ready to go back. I recently went to Paris for the first time & just loved it! I hadn't been to Europe since 1998 & had been wanting to go to Paris for about as long so it was a dream realized. I want to go back & explore more of France, and Europe for that matter. I'd also like to visit the Northwest coastal area and Vancouver. I went on a road trip out west one summer - 4500 miles in 13 days. Such a fun time! I'd love to go back to Colorado and explore the Rockies more. I'm looking for someone I can have fun with regardless of the environment - whether we're waiting in line at the DMV or at a friend's dinner party. I find intelligence sexy as long as pretentiousness doesn't come with it. I want someone I can learn from and who can also learn from me. A big heart is attractive too - someone who is willing to do the occassional volunteer work with me (as soon as I get off my butt and actually volunteer somewhere). A big heart means they're thoughtful too - we're not going to be together 24/7 but he let's me know he's thinking about me even when we're doing our own thing. I like to cook, especially for other people, and would like a guy who is willing and able to return the favor.
