Some random facts about me... I lived in France for a few years after I graduated from college. I am a tough mudder. I believe my five-year-old son is a Lego genius. One of my favorite pastimes is to weave a random movie quote seamlessly into any conversation. I marched in the 1998 Rose Bowl Parade. I think Breaking Bad is the best show on television. I live to eat, I don't eat to live. "Son of a Preacher Man" is my go-to karaoke song. I think peanut-butter cups make the world a better place. I prefer college football over professional football. My blood bleeds maize and blue. I enjoy writing quirky short stories in my spare time. "Sweet Disposition" by Temper Trap is my current ring tone and Kanye West's "Power" is my latest anthem. It is virtually impossible for me to walk out of an office supply store empty handed. If I weren't a teacher and could choose to do anything else with my life, I would travel the world and record my experiences on a witty blog that probably only my parents would take the time to read.
I am extremely passionate about my job--I couldn't imagine not being a teacher and relish the opportunity to shape young minds and share my love of writing and literature (and possibly inspire a few)--and I am also extremely passionate about running and fitness. While I enjoy mud runs and shorter road races, I also like to challenge myself. I ran the Marine Corps Marathon last fall, and I'm signed up to run the NYC marathon this coming November. I think it would be really cool to tackle a triathlon or ultramarathon someday, but we'll see how it goes. I recently got into Crossfit as well, which has actually made me a better runner. I mention all this this because it is really important that the person I choose to spend my time with also cares about staying in shape and enjoys being active. I would like to find someone that I can share this interest with, maybe go on long runs together or spot each other during presses and squats. I can tone it down, though, as I also like to relax in front of the TV for a good movie or one of my favorite shows. I actually am quite a film buff and love going to the movies just so I can lose myself in a good story.
It's hard to say exactly what I'm looking for in a partner, as I know we sometimes don't realize what we want until it's right in front of us, but I can say for sure that I find these specific traits extremely attractive: sense of humor (ranging from superior wit to classic low brow. I'm talking, Mel Brooks's Blazing Saddles bean-eating scene and Tosh.0 raunchiness), intelligence (especially if you are really knowledgeable about a topic I know next to nothing about or have a skill that I don't. I like men who can bring something new to the table and teach me something I wouldn't otherwise have the chance to learn), self-reliance (I value my independence and would respect yours as well), and resiliency (everybody goes through tough times. I've been there. How we bounce back speaks volumes about the kind of person we are). I also love men who love and are great with kids, especially because I have one of those (and I wouldn't mind having more). My son is a wonderful little man (did I mention he's a Lego genius?) and I am so blessed to have him in my life.
Although I'm not too picky when it comes to physical appearance, I will say that I am only superficial when it comes to height. I am six feet tall, and while I enjoy being tall, I don't necessarily enjoy feeling tall, especially when I'm on a date. I do prefer men who are at least my height or taller. I'm sorry if that comes off wrong, but I'm just being honest. Everybody has their 'thing'. Mine is height.
If you're interested in getting to know me more, send me a message and maybe we can make plans to meet up for a drink or a run (or both!). And while I appreciate the winks, you will need to do more than that to get my attention. Just send me a message.
