ABOUT HIM & WHO HE'S LOOKING FOR

New to SoCal...
You... An ability to have a conversation is important with it being open, honest and able to intelligently discuss anything. An appreciation for sarcasm and irony is key, creativity and uniqueness a plus. Everything else is what makes the shared journey thrilling and exciting. Intellectually challenging and willing to share in the experience of all that the adventure of life has to offer. An individual, has an opinion, willing to express it and not just one of the mass drones.

Me... The king of irony, master of witty banter, precise satirical sarcasm is always afoot. Over-educated with a degree in cinematography and a Masters in philosophy. I'm qualified to pump gas and ponder the meaning of reality, then make a movie about it. I voraciously consume information daily. I've beaten Alex Trebek in Trivial Pursuit and will dispatch just about anybody who is up to the challenge.

I tend to enjoy seeking out new adventures, challenges and experiences and have never had an issue with finding the unique, strange and wonderful moments that make life enjoyable. The bizarre and eccentric seem attracted to me like universal magnetic forces and constantly provides the beauty of enjoyment for life's magical surprises.

I grew up around the world as military brat. First time traveled alone was at 14 with a profound week in Singapore.

I've been deported twice.

I've ridden the Tokyo subway during rush hour dressed in a Godzilla costume.

Sweetly suserrate... Always alliterating... I hustle haiku's...

I've fought and won a battle with a live octopus only to be left with several welts on my face from its suction cups. Sushi is always best the closer to live the fish is when it is scooped up by nimble chopsticks.

I have nothing against vegetarians or vegans, was even one myself for many years, but I like the taste of meat more than the ethical quandaries or the smug lectures. It's a choice, I get it. I do see the merit in organic and knowing where one's food comes from. I'm adverse to overly processed food of any kind and prefer to enjoy a delicious home cooked meal over anything else. I know my way round the kitchen and trained to be a chef.

For fun I like to spend a lot of time outdoors and in nature. Be it out on the water sailing, backpacking for a week in the mountains, snowshoeing or snowboarding in the winter. In the end its important to get out and exist in the world outside, reconnecting to the primeval forces of nature in its resplendent joy .

Don't get me wrong, while I enjoy the great outdoors, I'm also down with enjoying culture and everything else society offers up creatively. I watch way too many movies that they sometimes start to blend together. Most current Hollywood pablum seems to do be this way, though "Up In The Air" was an enjoyable surprise. Some faves are Godard or the French New Wave in general, Peter Greenaway, Terrence Malick, Teshigahara's "Woman in the Dunes" is perhaps one of the best films ever made.

Music wise I'm down with pretty much everything from Alt country to Zydeco and everything in between, though am a connoisseur of Indie Rock and Surf. The current rotation includes Crooked Fingers, Broken Social Scene, Gogol Bordello, Modest Mouse, 5ABD, Scientific Maps, Built to Spill, The Apemen, Mingus, Stan Getz, some symphonies by Debussy and always the Pixies! I recently got back into vinyl and the warmth of analog sound. Love live shows, festivals and extravaganzas and try enjoy as many as I can.

So what am I looking for?? Someone who is not hung up on the past to the point where they can't live in the now or is obsessed about the future that planning for it consumes the present. Being comfortable with who you are and able to enjoy life's flaws and imperfections, not letting them get in the way of this amazing adventure...

An open road, train stations and airports. The top of a mountain or a good run down it. Newfoundland and being the first to see the sunrise and the last to see it set. The middle of the ocean with no one around but great friends. Lost in thought

A spirit of adventure, endless possibilities, an inquisitive drive for the wonders of life, working with my hands, writing the old fashioned way with pen and paper, learning something new. Exploring the deep dark unknown. Plausible deniability ...

I perceive that there's a unifying force in the universe and things seem to happen for a reason. Whether on not it can be anthropomorphically ascribed to a capital "G"od, an overtly complex simulation or a series of coincidences. I don't know.
