Emily In a nutshell:
I grew up in LA, but I don't really know my way around. I'm trying to get out and do new things, which is half the reason i'm on this site. I guess the other half is that I don't really meet people at my job or at school and other friends have had success through dating sites.
I'm pretty comfortable with myself. I'm a little shy and nerdy, but once I warm up to someone I love having conversations about anything and everything. My friends often describe me as sweet, but I also have a pretty sarcastic sense of humor, and I love to laugh.
The most important things to me are education and my family. For the most part, I grew up with a single mom so we are really close. I inherited a love of reading and learning from her. Being smart and well educated was an expectation while I was growing up, and I still think those are pretty important today. I love knowing stuff and I will read almost anything set in front of me. I could spend most of my time reading ( iv'e wasted days this way), and the only thing that usually stops me is work or school or the guilt of ignoring my friends. I think education is a must for any person I might be with, but I a love for reading is not a deal breaker.
When i'm not sequestered with a book or homework, I like to hang out with friends and go to the movies. I also love going to Disneyland ( it never gets old), and on the rare occasions when I have the money I like to travel. I think anything old is great ( I'm a World History major) so I really like to visit old buildings and places where historical events took place. I would be in heaven if I could go to England or parts of Europe to see all of the stuff iv'e studied, and hopefully i'll get to do a year abroad in Scotland.
This last year I made a commitment to take care of myself and my body. I generally drag myself through the 1 hour torture session at the gym 4-5 times a week. I'm still waiting for the day when I'll think of the stairmaster as a friend and not something that makes me want to cry a little, but i'm not sure it will ever come. I do enjoy swimming and yoga, so I try to stick to those things when I have the time. So far my efforts are paying off, and I'm in much better shape then I was last year at this time. It would be cool to find someone who encourage me in my efforts and also go do active stuff with me.
I'm not looking for the white picket fence and diamond ring in the near future, but I do want to find someone who is ready for a committed relationship. Ideally someone who is happy snuggling on the couch and watching movies, but is ready for a night on the town now and again.
I don't know if this will go anywhere, but If you have any interest, shoot me an email and we can go from there.
