"To make the journey and not fall deeply in love-well, you haven't lived a life at all. You have to try. Because if you haven't tried, you haven't lived. I want you to sing with rapture and dance like a dervish...You never know, lightening could strike."
Now just because that quote is from a Brad Pitt movie doesn't mean that I'm being unrealistic. Life is a long and unpredictable journey-with plenty of detours and bumps in the road. Most of the time our journey through life doesn't work out how we think it will. And that’s because it usually ends up better than we could ever have imagined. To love is to dare greatly. But we have to be willing to give our hearts and we have to try. Because at the end of the day-the only things that matters is the love and time you share with your family.
I thank my Heavenly Father every day for his hand in my life. I have always been so blessed and watched over. I have the most amazing parents and three younger sisters who are also my best friends. We have the best time together. Laughing to the point of tears is not uncommon with us. I had a beautiful childhood. I grew up in Agoura Hills, California. My parents not only taught me what true love is-they taught me what it means to have a Christ centered home. I am a Latter Day Saint and my faith is the single most important thing to me in my life. It has allowed me to rely on the Lord and to keep my head above water when the tide gets rough. We’ve all been there. Times when the only thing you can do is get on your knees and pray. Life is full of curveballs, challenges and heartache. But if we stay strong-those same trials are what refine and create us.
If you were to see me from across the room I would most likely be the girl laughing and making friends. I would definitely consider myself one of those social butterflies. Being around people brings me such happiness. I’m playful and curious. I’m sensitive and I have a hard time excluding so my lists of “favorites” tend to run long. I grew up in California and I went to college at BYU in Hawaii…so I am definitely a sun worshiper. Being in the sunshine or at the beach is when I feel most alive. I love to travel, to see new places, to meet new people. I love being in the fresh air and enjoying Mother Earth. And even though I have my bungee jumping, sky diving, swimming with sharks adventurous side-I also can be a homebody sometimes and enjoy nothing more than a nice quiet night at home watching a good movie.
I also get a good amount of my adrenalin fix at work. I am a Trauma Nurse in the ER. And let me tell you-it is the best job in the whole world. It is the best feeling when work doesn’t feel like work. I learn so much taking care of my patients. I am often reminded how precious life is and it has changed me for the better. I also have gained a bit of a twisted sense of humor working with so many crazy people all the time but that’s another story. It’s just how us nurses cope or at least that’s what we tell ourselves.
Like us all, I am not perfect and I am not looking for the perfect man. But I am looking for the perfect man for me. And despite popular belief, I still believe in soul mates. I have learned that the key to a wonderful life is surrounding yourself with happy people. Nothing is more attractive to me than a manly man who can make me laugh. So here’s to lightening striking. You never know.
