I recently moved to Charlotte for work and am getting used to post-grad life and a new city. Though I'm a Raleigh girl at heart, Charlotte is definitely growing on me and I'm lucky enough to have a few great friends around who are making sure I don't miss the Capital City too much.
I was raised in NC by fantastic parents, on southern hospitality, quick wit, and a roll-with-the-punches attitude, and shamelessly dote on my "baby" brother. Four years in the sorority house, four years in grad school, and one Uptown job later, my guilty pleasure is still the occasional trade-in of suits and high heels for jeans and Lucchese's and grabbing a few beers with old friends. They keep me grounded and makes sure I don't take myself or work too seriously. The juxtaposition makes me laugh, but I'd like to think I've had the best of both worlds.
My job is challenging, but I love it. The hours can occasionally get long-- the joy of being the new girl-- but in the end, I'm a big believer in "work hard play hard." And it puts me closer to our lake house, one of my favorite places to be. I love being on the water, whether its water-skiing or just throwing some coolers and friends in the boat for a cruise, so I'm delighted to finally be so close.
