Having recently turned 40, I've been preparing to indulge a little midlife crisis. But how? I'm perfectly happy with the car I'm driving, so no need to run out and buy a ridiculous sports car (which wouldn't survive Philly's potholes). I have no need of a hairpiece (whew) or Botox (check back at 50). And I think you need to have a wife before you can have an affair ;) So I've settled on this… a change to my dating habits. No more settling for superficial relationships with someone who is "nice" and "attractive." I've had enough of dating for fun. I need more. I want my next intimate relationship to be my last (and not because I die in a plane crash, please!). I am in search of a deep, spiritual bond, forged with honesty and worthy of a lifetime commitment. I'm looking for a compatible woman who shares that goal and has the courage and compassion to help make it happen. I'll do the sports car at 50 :) A little about me: I am a libertarian, which is to say I believe in freedom. To put a finer point on it, I believe in the value of the individual and a very limited role for government. These beliefs are deeply held, and I'm likely not a good fit with someone who does not share them. So if you call yourself a moderate, a liberal or a Democrat, I wish you luck, elsewhere. I'm an analytical thinker who enjoys deep conversation; but I also enjoy the beach, a movie, the ballgame, etc. I'm emotionally honest with others, as I am with myself. While driven and hard working by nature, my job is merely a means to allow me to pursue the things I want out of life. I've got a good heart and a dry sense of humor. What I'm looking for: a woman with Dagny Taggart's head (see Atlas Shrugged) and Anne Shirley's heart (see Anne of Green Gables). Throw in a little bit of Elle Woods (i. e., Reese Witherspoon's character in Legally Blonde) to keep things fun. Which is to say (in case you haven't read/watched all three): a strong, intelligent woman with a good heart (but not a bleeding one). Race and religion are not important. Fitness and appearance are. A little chemistry never hurts! For conversation: favorite television includes Boardwalk Empire, Grey's Anatomy and The Office. Favorite movies include The Godfather, Lord of the Rings (x3), Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and LA Confidential. Favorite books include Atlas Shrugged, Crime and Punishment, Lolita and Great Expectations. I enjoy cooking because it gives me a chance to work with my hands. I like to sing (much to the dismay of my car and shower) and would like to learn the guitar someday. I've enjoyed many blessings along my journey; now, if I could just find a trailmate. Headed in the same direction?
