One of my girlfriends suggested I use this profile from the Match.com overused cliche formbook:
I like ethnic dining, foreign movies, moonlit walks on the beach, and snuggle bunny burgers. I’m equally comfortable going to a black tie event and hanging out in jeans. I’ve got a great family and friends but have room in my life for one special guy.
I couldn’t bring myself to do that and came up with this instead:
I have a great job and think I’m pretty good at it, but I think that my social and dating life is in need of a bit of a boost. I really like DC but sometimes it seems like everyone here takes themselves a little too seriously. Some people say “everything I know about love – I learned from my dog.” I’m kind of in a place where “everything I know about politics – I learned from Stephen Colbert.” Which is not to say that I agree with all of Colbert’s positions – sometimes he’s just too conservative for my taste. :)
I grew up in Oklahoma, so although I am the adventurous, on-the-go type, I can certainly appreciate a more laid back lifestyle. I love to SCUBA and all kinds of travel. Last fall, I went on a two-week trip to Alaska that was amazing and a dive trip to St. Croix that was tons of fun. I like to explore the restaurants, parks, and other sights around DC – but there are still a ton of places here and beyond DC that I haven’t been (that bucket list just never seems to get shorter!). I’m on a determined path to live, eat, and exercise in a healthier way than I have in the past.
After taking a little break from Match and dating, I'm ready for a fabulous spring of fun and romance - so I hope to hear from you soon.
