I moved to the U.S. when I was 22 attending USC for masters degree in Communication. After graduation, I have been running a start up helping international students apply universities in the U.S. and career development after they graduate (the career part is being developed now, I am kinda stuck).
I was frequently asked what exactly my business does and if I created that business category which I feel honored that people are interested. First of all, I do not own the copyright of independent education consulting, what I did is just to have expanded the clientele to students living outside of the U.S. Second, what my business offer is helping foreign students select academic programs, structure their essays, coach admission interviews, help them select offers and some instruction on visa preparations and adjustment to new life in the U.S. I am privileged and honored to be able to be with my clients in their critical moment of life (going to college and graduate school), and beyond delighted to see some of my students went to the nation's top universities, like MIT, Duke, Johns Hopkins etc.
I used to write two columns regarding cross-cultural relationship and marriage (though never been married so far) for a lifestyle magazine and public radio, but I have been been very busy with business, so the writing is kind of put on the side for now.
I was told that I was funny and witty when I threw jokes with my 80% understanding of English, my occasional blanks in mind about certain English slangs may make people laugh, and I usually make people laugh just naturally.
Besides running the business in the daytime, my biggest hobby would be reading spiritual/ philosophy/ metaphysics books. I am a big fan of Marianne Williamson and God. On the subject, I am an open spiritual religious person which means being Christian, Jew, Catholic, other denominations, etc. does not make a difference for me. I believe that all the great religions are not for limiting people, but for leading people to their highest level of being.
I was told that I am a spiritual and loving person. I feel flattered and think it is actually what I strive to become, and it is an on-going process. I am humble and honored to learn and grow.
Speaking of spirituality and religion, I am definitely not one of the people who would just sit there and meditate all day, I am a big fan of Chelsea Handler, so you may be able to tell what other side of me is. :)
I am a lighthearted, openminded and honest person, and looking for the same. Being honest and sincere is the key not only in the dating scene, but it is how we were born to be.
I do not really want to mention this, but in case some people care - I am an American citizen born in foreign country, so there is no visa, immigration issues for me.
