ABOUT HER & WHO SHE'S LOOKING FOR

So...In a nut shell...outgoing, love to laugh, really good at finding the beauty in everything and everyone around me. Some would call that "hippy B.S."...yeah yeah it's cheesy...but it's true. I love people and I love this world. Some things I love: peanut shells on the floor and the drunk guy 2 rows down at baseball games; the way my stomach feels when I ride a roller coaster; standing on top of a mountain after biking hundreds of miles to reach the top; two words: Johnny. Depp.; the way natural light plays on a Rene Magritte or Salvador Dali painting as it hangs on a stark white wall (LOOOVVEE the Menil Collection); plunging into a Wyoming lake created by two glacier-fed waterfalls on a dare. I get turned on by a challenge, such as being in charge of a HUGE project with lots at stake and seeing it all come together successfully (Thus, the Theatre Director status). My life consists of all types of theatre (but I really dig theatre that I find difficult: avant garde, surrealist, and dadaist). I spend a lot of time thinking about how I can reach out to the kids at work more. Most of my students need a lot of guidance, respect, love, and care. I may screw up as a teacher some times, but I'm a pro at those other things. Ahhh music....sigh. The amazing silence in a concert hall as a pianist begins a Chopin prelude is just as awesome as the vibrations in my body at a Black Keys concert :). And, I'm always up for something new. Some things in the opposite sex that do "it" for me are spirituality (HUGE), a GREAT sense of humor, masculinity, a good sense of humor (whoops...I already said that...oh well, I guess it's really important), old-fashioned gentlemanly charm, interest in anything artistic or cultural, a good listener, intelligence, assertiveness, agressive when it comes to achieving his life goals, and gentle when it comes to "achieving" his perfect girl. Someone who doesn't take life too seriously but sees it as the gift that it is. And...it's important that he not make me the center of his world. More on that last one later.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here is that I'm really spiritual. Not religious, but spiritual. Some might think, "That's the most private thing she'll reveal?!" But to me...it's very personal and private...that's what it means to me. A lot of people would still consider me "religious". I do go to church (although struggling to find one that "fits" lately), and I do still consider myself a Christian, but I've just known a lot of, shall I say it, a-hole "Christian" people in my lifetime and I think people forget that the main teaching of the whole faith is LOVE. So..if I had to sum up my spiritual beliefs in a few words, I'll use a little John Lennon: "Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns". Yep.

If it seems we could be great friends or more, take a look at my photos and email me. What the heck...email me even if you think we'd hate each other. Maybe we'll have a lot of fun insulting each other.

For fun:

As a teacher, summers off is a luxury. I enjoy being on the water, hitting up pubs and bars with friends, DIY-ing the crap out of furniture, art, etc. Of course, going to plays, concerts, the opera, the symphony are HUGE favorites of mine

Favorite hot spots:

Usually in Houston & occasionally in Austin. Here I frequent Cecil's for beer/outdoor patio time, St. Arnold's brewery rarely but I love it, the Menil for good art, Rebels or Wild West for dancing, and Discovery Green or Miller for cool nights.

Favorite things:

I love ALL kinds of music. I like exploring new bands so if you've got one, let me know! Love HBO and Shotime (I think they put crack in that stuff). There are a gazillion plays I love, but I won't be a total dork & share all of those with you. :)

Last read:

Last three things I read were the catholic liturgy this morning, Leading Ladies by Ken Ludwig and the Economist (can that subscription PLEASE be cheaper?!). Currently reading several scripts in preparation for my next play - not sure what to do yet.
