I'm a straightforward small-town girl in love with the world. If you are smart, funny, extroverted, love the arts and outdoors, are not a raving political lunatic, and are up for anything, then we have a lot in common and should meet!
Here's a bit more detail about my extracurricular interests: I am a dedicated aunt to my 2-year-old nephew, who lives in DC. I am an Election Officer for the City of Alexandria, sing with the Alexandria Choral Society, volunteer at The Little Theater, and just ran my first half marathon. I previously served on the Historic Alexandria Resources Commission, am a member of Friends of Fort Ward and the Symphony Orchestra League of Alexandria, and enjoy going on trips with Wilderness Volunteers. I have been playing online games of Diplomacy on and off for the past decade with the same group of guys from grad school - but Balderdash is my favorite game. I frequently host out-of-town guests and love sharing my (mostly successful) baking experiments with my colleagues. My mother taught me to be a good correspondent, and the lesson stuck: I am a loyal pen pal to my far-flung friends and family around the world. I also must admit that I enjoy shopping and am (in)famous in my office for my collection of stilettos and my ability to sprint around the Pentagon in them as I rush from one meeting to another.
I am totally committed to my challenging job developing our nation's defense policy; I work fairly long hours but never bring my work home with me.
I'm pretty happy with my busy, interesting, fulfilling life, but know that it would be EVEN BETTER to share it with a great person. I can't wait to learn about your interests and what makes you tick, and figure out how we are going to go forth into the world together.
