I currently live downtown and have been living in NYC since finishing grad school. I grew up in Rhode Island and went to undergrad in Nebraska, grad school in Louisiana and have been working in the public sector since I finished grad school. I enjoy my career and consider myself very fortunate to have been given so many opportunities to learn and advance. While I understand the importance of work and take my job seriously I do not let it define who I am. Some of my interests include playing ultimate frisbee, hiking, college football, sports, history, current events, politics, exploring and visiting new places, going to museums, running/exercising, working on hobbies, movies, TV, music and spending time with friends and family.
While I enjoy living in NYC at times I find it to be a bit pretentious and materialistic, I would much rather eat at a hole in the wall and spend the evening at a low key bar. It seems to be becoming harder to find great low key places and I am always looking for recommendations new places to check out. I also like to get out of the city and go upstate to spend time outdoors, since I did not grow up in the city I sometimes miss the fresh air.
I am looking for a serious relationship and would like to meet someone with similar interests. I do not have specific traits I am looking for but based on experience I can usually tell if someone will be my type (however I have been surprised in the past). Intelligence is very important as is staying down to earth and humble. i also enjoy studying and talking about history and current events so it would be nice to find someone who doesn't mind discussing either.
