Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love. Albert Einstein.
I am an architect turned engineer. I remember my 3rd year professor stated I had no creativity. What!!! You should see what I can do with my empty Starbucks cups. “Professor Ling, eat your heart out.” I may be the minority, but I love my job. I get to solve puzzles all day. Very big puzzles. I don’t have to worry about how to make a structure stand, but why it fell down. Needless to say, my grandma stopped having me visit the nursing home because the 1500 piece puzzles in the lobby were a no brainer. Her friends actually kicked her out of knitting class because I’d finish all of them, or maybe it was because I ate all their pudding.
Now that I have a lot of free time on my hands, because my grandma doesn’t see me anymore, (just kidding, she actually loves me) I’ve been reflecting and realized all my life, I wanted to be somebody, I see now, I should have been more specific. I figured it’s about time to pursue my other ambitions. Ask, and I’ll tell you…
There seems to be a misconception about engineers. We’re not all pocket-protector- wearing nerdy types. I found that my pocket protector didn’t stop the ink stain from forming behind my ear, nor did it produce positive results on getting a date. I find that I am structured but not rigid (wholly crap, am I really using engineering terminology to describe myself!!!) Detailed but not cumbersome (yep, I guess I am) I do believe that if I witness someone yawning while talking to them, it’s simply due to lack of sleep.
I originally hail from Buffalo, NY. Home of the Bills, Sabres and snow. I’m a fan of 2 out of 3. I seem to have adopted a slight Canadian accent and use “eh” (pronounced “A”) much too often. I love the Florida weather although I’m not a fan of rush hour traffic. I used to be a college athlete and was committed to the gym, health and nutrition. And, although I still keep it healthy, I’m currently utilizing the “bus theory lifestyle”…that I could get hit by a bus tomorrow, so enjoy every moment. (On a side note: why is it always a bus that will run us over? There are many other modes of vehicular transportation that would meet the pending doom scenario. Odds are it would be a car. I think busses get a bad rep). Furthermore, the trouble with exercise such as running is that by the time you realize you’re out of shape, it’s too far to walk back and you’ve wasted a whole lot of precious time. I believe anything in moderation (except coffee) is fine.
What am I looking for..hummm? Besides a re-fill on my coffee, engaging, stimulating conversation for starters. Everyone’s profile states they are fun, happy, active..etc. I suppose then, everyone would be perfect for everyone. Knowing this is not the case, what makes two people click? Attraction? Values? Chemistry? The acceptance of my pudding loving grandma?
Not only do 3 out of 4 people make up 75% of the population, they tend to believe that overly lengthy profiles are not as effective as a short concise one. I’m attempting to heed the percentages.
