I grew up overseas and moved back to the U.S. in 2002. I went to George Mason for my undergraduate degree in English, and then to George Washington University for my Master's in English Education. (From a Patriot to a Colonial!) Now I teach high school Special Education English in Northern Virginia. Growing up overseas definitely shaped who I am now and has given me a unique perspective on life. (Filling out the "hometown" section on this site was tricky.) I like scuba diving, touring, reading, hiking and seeing friends. I am also really passionate about cars. Some of my earliest memories with my dad were in a car or on a motorcycle, so I find the draw of engines exciting.
I am looking for someone who sees life as an adventure. That person appreciates the things he has, knows where he is going and knows what he wants. I have a wonderful 7 year old son, and as such, a person who is comfortable with kids is important. If it's true that life is about finding what you can live with, can't live with and can't live without, here is my take:
I can live with:
- someone who doesn't have it "all figured out", but who never gives up trying
I can't live with:
- someone who quits easily
- someone who doesn't take his job seriously
- someone who only goes to church twice a year
- someone who is "so so" about kids
I can't live without:
- romance
- humor
- a Christian
- adventure and exploring new places
- intellectual stimulation
- chivalry
- spontaneity
- thoughtfulness
- passion
- ambition and drive
I like weekend getaways to Virginia wine country, visiting the Delmarva coast and social outings in/around DC. I am grateful for the people who have helped me along life's path and who have contributed to who I currently am. I am also passionate about helping others, the fine and performing arts, domestic and international travel, English (and by that I mean the study and teaching of it) and working hard to reach goals in life.
