After several years serving as the extra man at parties or suffering through blind dates set up by people I thought were my friends, I decided to try something quasiscientific. (They're still my friends, I just don't let them set me up anymore!)
My friends call me a renaissance man. I built a porch and deck and laid stone floors for my house, but I usually have two or three books going at the same time. I like travel, from museums in Florence to hiking in New Mexico. (Apologies for the Glacier Park photo above--the hiking group is barely visible. Obviously photography is something I haven't mastered.) I like all kinds of music, from almost current pop-rock all the way to opera (within limits). I have always been amazed by live theater (Guthrie and smaller venues) but I also thoroughly enjoy the Twins and Vikings live or on TV with friends or family. Unfortunately, I have a demanding job that keeps me very busy. So when I "play," I try to play hard.
My partner needs to have some of these interests and the spontaneity to seize opportunities.
