Essay:
I would classify myself as a modern woman with old fashioned ideals. I believed the right person would walk into my life at the right time. Since this hasn't happened (yet!), I have resorted to Plan B . . . match.com. I consider myself very fortunate to have a loving and supportive family, a close circle of diverse friends and a stable career which allows me to travel. At this chapter in my life, I know who I am and am comfortable in my own skin. I am searching for someone who shares my passion for living, someone who lives his life with integrity and is willing to share himself with the right person. I also welcome someone who exposes me to new ideas, challenges me intellectually, yet appreciates me for who I am. A friend once told me I had a deliciously twisted sense of humor. I never forgot the compliment. Laughter opens my heart. I prefer Monty Python and British comedies over the Three Stooges. I believe George Carlin was a genius. I am able to laugh at myself and do so often; but I equally appreciate good slapstick. Laughter is necessary, especially when life dictates otherwise. Honesty, generosity and kindness impress me. My friends would describe me as having these qualities. I am fiercely opposed to injustice . . . of any kind. I am socially liberal and I vote. I am an American and am not scared to admit I'm from New Jersey. Don’t believe the stereotypes. A few little known facts about me: I am a bit competitive, but know when to raise the white flag. I am driven and determined (please note, I did not use the word stubborn). I have an intense fear of spiders. I enjoy getting lost in bookstores. I appreciate old movies (It’s a Wonderful Life is my favorite movie; Humphrey Bogart is my all time favorite actor); old music (whether it be jazz, blues, vocals, or big band); antiques; and old architecture (I own a 120-year-old Victorian home). I have been a Pescetarian for 15 years, but I have no issue with carnivores (just please don’t expect me to participate in a pig roast.) I have a love-hate relationship with politics. I play in the dirt and enjoy gardening. I prefer the eve of any holiday because it brings out my childlike enthusiasm for the anticipation. I will warn you in advance that there are times I have a mouth like a sailor; however, I do respect the fact that there is a time and place for everything. So if this description intrigues you. . If you know who you truly are and aren’t afraid to be yourself. . . If you find joy in the simple things in life, but also appreciate life’s complexities. . If you can laugh at yourself and also at life’s absurdities . . .perhaps we should connect?
