I'm laid back, easygoing, introverted. But also intense and focused and disciplined. I find myself attracted to both introverted and extroverted girls, though too extroverted means we'll probably clash eventually. It's all about balance and I like to think the introvert will understand me but the extrovert will complement me. As for passions and interests: literature, theater, art, foreign policy, finance, mob history, Boston sports teams, chess, mixed martial arts, etc. And our current golden age of American television (Mad Men, Glee, Boardwalk Empire, Downtown Abbey, Breaking Bad, etc.). I love France24 and have little patience for American cable news stations. I've been physically active all my life and work out regularly. I was a pole vaulter in college and have trained in muay thai kickboxing and boxing for about 9 years. Also, I like routine not for the sake of structure per se, but for the sake of a structure designed to pursue a goal. But I also appreciate and welcome spontaneity in my life. As for music: Bob Dylan, classic rock, 80s, classical, and other. Not hip hop. As for humor: raunchy, slap-stick, Will Ferrell-type stuff. Three Stooges (yeah, sorry, I'm a guy). RomComs can be good. I can handle sarcasm if it's in good taste. More on humor - here are some favorite Oscar Wilde quotes that give me a chuckle: 1. Punctuality is the thief of time. 2. A woman always turns out like her mother, that's her tragedy. A man never does, that's his. 3. Faithfulness is to the emotional life what consistency is to the life of the intellect - simply a confession of failure. 4. Seriousness is the last refuge of the shallow. 5. To be popular is to be a mediocrity. Some random things I like: smell of wood burning in autumn, green tea, Kramer (on Seinfeld), the ocean, first warm day of spring, first chilly day of fall, sound of crickets, watching an ant at work, long drive (without traffic), running on the beach, strawberry daiquiris, admiring people who are good and passionate about what they do, nice smiles, intellectual honesty, chin resting on interlaced fingers with brooding countenance, summer breezes, pensive sighs in those "what are you gonna do" moments in life, eating pasta right out of the pot, listening to waves crashing into the shore at night, a woman wearing a pretty dress and sunglasses and taking in the view on a veranda, taking a view of Manhattan from a 35th story apartment, reading news on my phone, daydreaming, and, well, that's all I can think of for now... As for what I'm looking for, a few thoughts: I don't believe in "the one". Or destiny. Or things like that. I think you just meet someone you get along with and have a good time with and feel the sparks and fire and chemistry, so much that you can't help but want to be around that person. How that happens, I don't know. It just does. For a long time, I thought opposites attract. Then I was in a long-term relationship with someone whose personality was antithetical to mine and, charming as it was, well, suffice to say, here I am on match. For a time, I thought I needed to be with someone who was like me, shared all my fundamental interests, and then I was in a relationship with someone like me, and well, here I am on match. So the long and short: who knows what makes it work? Perhaps a bit of both: someone like me, but not like me. Whatever the case, one thing we probably can all agree on: fire! I want to have that passion that makes me want to buy roses for you, write poems for you, and be head over heels for you. And would like it to last if possible.
