I'm from Maryland and moved to DC two years ago after finishing grad school. I've always really been into school and I love learning new things, I spend a lot of time reading. I have a masters in history and have my dream job working in a museum where I get to spend all day having fun and putting together exhibitions. I seriously can't even believe they pay me.... It's the best job ever. While I'm incredibly happy with where I've ended up, I worked really hard to get here, and unfortunately that has meant that most of my life up until now has been focused on school and work, but now that I'm more established, I'm ready to start a new phase. Now that I have more free time, I've been having a lot of fun exploring DC. I normally hang out around Penn Quarter, U St., and Dupont. I've always been a work hard/play hard person. I'm very serious about my commitments and career, but I also love to unwind. I like going to cultural events, seminars and book signings, but I also love going to concerts, out to restaurants and the bar/club scene. I also have the coolest family ever... they're so much fun and I love getting together and hanging out with them. While I know that mannnnny guys on this site will consider this sheer blasphemy, I've never really been super into nature... Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate reading a book in a nice park or garden or a gorgeous sunset or a great day at the beach, but I feel like every time I read a guy's profile on this thing it's like I LOVE BEING OUTDOORS, EATING CLIF BARS, AND HIKING!!! I'd much rather be in a museum/coffee shop/movie theater/bar... It's just who I am. But I'm all about compromise, I'll go on a hike with you every once in a while... Just please don't make me eat a clif bar. As cliche as it sounds, I love to travel. I used to live in London, so I love British culture (and British chocolate). I absolutely hate shopping, unless it's for books or electronics, so if you're looking for a fashionista who loves spending hours at the mall and can't wait to pick you out the perfect outfit, unfortunately I can't help you.... I'm looking for someone who works hard and takes life seriously but doesn't take himself too seriously and likes to have fun. I have a basic rule of thumb that if someone isn't willing to dress in a costume and look like an idiot for Halloween for the sake of fun with friends, they're probably not the guy for me. I also want someone who has their own interests and ambitions but that respects and encourages mine as well. I really want someone who's confident, smart, funny, and easygoing who enjoys a night in but also likes to go out, get together with people, and try new things.
