I describe myself as anti-traditional in that I am an independent woman who doesn't want to be "protected". This doesn't mean I don't want to be respected, just that I need someone who understands that I can hold my own. I feel beautiful whether or not I'm wearing make up and I don't need alcohol to have a good time (although it can certainly help...)
I grew up in South Jersey and attended college in North Jersey, and just applied for PhD programs in Psychology for next year. I also work as a research assistant at Gloucester County College. Research is my passion, specifically on issues related to girls and bullying, because it's my contribution to helping end someone else's pain.
I love to read (my book collection is beginning to boarder on ridiculous...) and I'm also an avid writer. Relaxing with a glass of wine and a movie is one of my favorite ways to spend a weekend. I'm not really into sports, so if you're looking for a girl who is going to go to/watch games with you all the time, I'm probably not for you. However, I am very good at compromising and am happy to watch games as long as we also do things that I want.
A few random facts about me:
- Getting a "good morning" text makes me smile for the rest of the day
- I've been playing the harp for a little over a year now
- I can recite the first 50 digits of pi, although I hate math
- Unless it's pitch black outside I can't drive without sunglasses
- I have an extremely strong aversion to Kraft singles yellow cheese
- I'm learning how to pole dance (It's an exercise class! Don't go getting any crazy ideas...)
- I'm obsessed with European history and would love to go on a tour of the castles in Europe.
- I'm addicted to Living Social/Groupon and am constantly finding new adventures that I want to try
- I love crazy socks and hardly ever wear two that match
- My dream car is a purple mustang and I fully intend to own one at some point
- My sense of direction is so beyond bad, it's completely nonexistent. I'm entirely GPS-dependent
At this point in my life I'm looking for something serious, so those who are unsure of what they want, emotionally unavailable, damaged beyond repair, or just looking for a good time need not apply. I'm looking for someone who can understand my quirks and who loves to have fun and be silly, but can also have a serious conversation. Someone who is equally comfortable curled up on the couch in sweats and sitting at the bar. Someone who is motivated, ambitious, and intelligent. I'm very loyal and dedicated, and I'm looking for someone who is as well. Above all else I'm looking for someone who will recognize and appreciate all that I have to offer.
