I suppose after seven years in DC I should stop considering myself an Alaskan - especially since saying as much in the last few years has resulted in the inevitable references to she who shall not be named - but I think I'm stuck with that mentality (and a love of mountains).
DC is definitely home now though; I have a great community of friends and a job I love. There's no denying I'm the social coordinator in a group (my brother, the film production student, recently called me a "line producer," which upon contemplation he decided was a compliment), but I'm learning to appreciate the virtues of unplanned adventures. I'm a fan of a lazy weekend just as much as one that's jam-packed. I'd love to find a partner who's up for a weekend backpacking trip, a wine festival outing, or just a night in for a movie marathon.
I'm looking for someone who enjoys an intellectually stimulating debate/discussion and is motivated to keep learning, but can turn it off to enjoy a mindless movie or book (or at least not mock me - too much - when I do).
