I've been told I'm pretty laid back. Of course, the disheveled, jeans t-shirt thing tends to follow me everywhere with a good healthy bushel of shedding dog fur (not mine, that I've been told). Big time dog person, by the way. I get the biggest kick out of twirling my dog with a little pinch of the tail. He loves to go run and play bumper cars with another dog, then go dig holes and wear 5 lbs. of dirt in the back seat when we drive home. I've been in SoCal since '91 (so I'm official), grew up in NYState, and haven't gone back because I just love the outdoors vs. staying at home with a book. Yes, like most SoCal people, there's that shelf of unread books displayed as trophies of ignorance. Oh well, just not a lot of rainy days to get caught up. I like to be active (run, mtn bike, weights), don't play competitive sports (besides seasonal skiing) as I'm just not coordinated enough to be competitive and not be laughable. Every now and then I might surprise myself. So, most of my activities I do solo and I've developed quite a bit of stamina, (if I don't trip over something). I do appreciate spectator sports and do get to a fair share of LADodger, LAKings games (eventhough, I'm diehard NYYankee, NYGiant and NYRanger fan, but we don't have to get into that). I'm a huge lover of music and go to concerts from seeing LAPhil at Hollywood Bowl to Ozzfest out in the desert. I have no musical skill either, but think the aura of a good Tom Waits drunken lullaby should be background music to so many life situations. I'm always interested in finding out new bands, sounds. Music's not my skill, but drawing is. I try to get out to a class or life drawing workshop, to keep my skills up. I like going to museums and art galleries, but tend to zone out in a cloud of open-mindedness. I grew up being a big Dali, Magritte, DaVinci fan (appreciated the detail) and struggle not to be narrow-minded when it comes to art I appreciate. It's a losing battle. As far as relationship goes, I think mutual attraction, same age range are very important. A sweet voice and infectious laugh do wonders. I like someone who likes to be active, and is essentially low maintenance with a terrific sense of adventure and attitude, who isn't afraid to 'go metro'. I''ve often fantasized about being at a Starbucks or local Ma Pa Cafe in Silverlake or downtown, in an intense conversation with a woman, gun shots go off, followed by screaming, shouting. We drop beneath the table, w/out more than 5-10 sec lapse, resume conversation, sirens wail, we peak out from under the table, shooter apprehended, sit back on our stools and resume sipping coffee talking about whether Disney buying the Star Wars franchise will benefit the fan-base. Regardless, I like someone who seeks out experiences to add upon stories that you can share later, no matter who is the better storyteller or who has the details right or who was driving and got lost in So Central L.A. It's all apart of the ride and I'd like to find someone besides my beer drinking pitbull buddy. Not that he can't come along for a ride or 2.
