When I moved to California, I promised myself I wouldn't forget where I came from, start doing drugs or begin driving like a douche just to blend in. After a couple years in San Francisco and now 6 months in L.A., I still have my midwestern work ethic, empathy and haven't purchased a fedora, meaningless tribal tattoo, veneers or pair of skinny jeans. If you still remember who you really are as well, we should meet. If you've headed west for anonymity, to run away from your past/problems or have spent too much time in the sun (either physically or metaphorically) we should not meet. I can tell you I'm honest, affectionate, ambitious, a damn good communicator, romantic, reliable, generous and loyal because that's what my closest friends have told me. I try to bike my age in miles every third day and play tennis 3x a week in Santa Monica. Definite bonus points if you're someone I can hit with. I also plan to learn how to scuba dive in the near future since I already love to snorkel and it'd be awesome to do that with someone else at the same time. Getting a girl to laugh has never really been a problem (assuming they don't get offended easily). Finding one who I also find funny is. I enjoy witty exchanges of sarcasm, irreverence and observational humor along with emotionally intelligent conversations about serious subject matters. I also gravitate toward those who are adventurous and are up for pretty much anything. Meaning if your life only revolves around eating at restaurants and pretending to exercise by doing yoga, then I'll only consider you to be pretty. And by pretty, I mean pretty boring. Things I’m super afraid of: the north american grizzly and getting my finger caught in that space between the door and wall. Quirks: Inconveniencing myself to recycle something instead of throwing it away and using the maximum character count every text message whenever possible. I’m looking for someone who really likes what they do for a living, loves themselves for who they are and what they look like (but not too much) and is looking for something serious in what has often been described to me as a very large collection of lonely cities. Most likely you're also new to the area and want to meet someone to experience all the fun things there are to do here since I believe having a companion makes for more meaningful experiences and memories. Thus far I've seen a live taping of Real Time with Bill Mahr, went and saw Stefan Sagmeister's Happiness Show at MOCA and sat next to Bobby Brown at a bowling alley while he got drunk, so basically I'm already 2 for 3. Turn-ons: self-awareness, accountability, slender chicks with nice legs, spontaneity, little to no make-up, positivity, straight hair Turn-offs: Organized religion, physical perfection, Ugg boots or roman sandals, OCD cleaners/control freaks, professional victims, big boobs, picky eaters, smart phone zombies, healing crystal/astrology weirdos
