Gosh, one might think an English degree would make this bit a little easier, but I find I rather write my thesis again than write about myself for a few short paragraphs. I guess I can start with the obvious. I decided to try online dating because I was ready to do something proactive. Waiting around for the right person to wander into my life was trying my patience. I'm looking for someone with whom to experience all the fun and exciting things Houston (and the rest of the Globe) has to offer. I'm ready for an adventure! Restaurants, museums, travel, sporting events (Go Pokes!) and intelligent conversation over a good bottle of wine. A great sense of humor is an absolute must; this girl certainly enjoys a good laugh. I also value my quiet time (but would certainly welcome company), whether it’s an afternoon on the patio with a good book or an evening in with pizza and a good movie. I'm not only looking for fun, though. I really am interested in a relationship that goes somewhere meaningful. I was raised in a close knit family, full of unconditional love, and that is the kind of family I hope to create for my (hypothetical) children someday. I try my best to be a compassionate and empathetic person. I feel like those are the two things that humanity is lacking that would make our world an infinitely better place.
In terms of likes and dislikes (which are more important than some people think) I have a pretty broad area of interest. I love to learn new things. I'm always up for a history museum or any kind of cultural outing. I have season tickets to the Houston Symphony and it would be great to find a fellow music appreciator to go with. I watch a lot of TV and spend most Saturday mornings working on clearing out my overloaded DVR. I love going to the movies, and I wish I made it to more. I think that I should disclose my status as a card carrying nerd. It would be great to find someone who doesn't make fun of me for my long term love of Harry Potter, and doesn't roll their eyes at the mention of The Doctor. But I'm not a costume wearing re-enactor or anything. Most of my nerding is done in the comfort of my living room. I've also been accused of being a food snob. Houston is a city full of fantastic restaurants, there is no reason to ever have a mediocre meal.
If my long winded-ness hasn't turned you off by this point, I'd love to hear from you! Who knows where a simple drink could lead.
