The last time I had to describe my strengths and weaknesses was when I was applying to college. I did not enjoy that. So I specifically picked a career (entertainment, of course, it's LA) where I would never have to list my qualifications or take a drug test in an interview.
In fact, I avoided online dating for quite some time specifically because I didn't want to fill out this box! And, like everyone else, I wanted to meet my future husband at the post office. You know, I'd drop my mail, you'd help me pick it up, we'd fall in love, and then live happily ever after! Then I realized, who goes to the post office anymore? Actually I probably do go about once a month, it's one of my favorite errands. But I rarely see cute guys there, and I generally keep a pretty firm grip on my packages (yes, I'm aware that sentence might come off as a sexual innuendo, and I'm keeping it!)
Anyways ... point is I'm not so sure that listing my favorite books is the best way to find Prince Charming. I've dated some great guys and I couldn't tell you what one of their favorite books is. I think a relationship starts because two people have chemistry, and lasts because two people want the same thing out of the relationship. Having differences keeps things exciting! Unless you're republican, straight edge, super religious, don't get sarcasm, or think it's ok to call things "gay", we'll probably get along just fine.
So, what am I looking for? I'm looking for someone who, well … wants to be in a relationship!
I'm looking for someone who will have one too many drinks at dinner, let me listen to the Glee soundtrack, make me smile when I've had a bad day (if the Glee soundtrack hasn't done that already), make me try new things, be able to have fun with a big group and have fun cozied up on the couch with a bottle of wine and a movie, and in general someone who will keep life interesting.
Also if you can be good with directions and hanging heavy things, I will, in return, bake yummy cookies and make your apartment smell nicer. I'm all for feminism and everything, but there are some things boys are just better at!
I know I'm supposed to list my likes and dislikes, but honestly … I don't really don't mind if you don't like to hike or think Mad Men is boring (just get past episode 4, I promise it's good!).
If you REALLY want to know all about my interests ... you're going to have to buy me a drink :)
