Let me guess... you like to travel...
Yes, I do too, but I'd like for us to know each other better before we start galavanting around the world.
My women friends want you to know that I'm a great catch (and forced me to do this), but I'll leave that for you to decide. I haven't dated much since the end of an 11-year relationship, three years ago, so I can't help feeling like a fish out of water.
Still, by now I know who I am and whom I want by my side. I'm looking for a friendship to develop into a serious relationship. I won't waste your time. I'm honest and I work to make the world a better place. I'm loyal, and will be there by your side when the world tumbles down on you (as well as to celebrate your accomplishments).
I'm into natural-looking women; no unnecessary, cosmetic body additions :) I need a "glass half full' kind of person, not sweating all the little stuff, and someone who is good - an innately caring person. You should know that I'm not the kind of person that measures success by the value of material possessions, but by the quality of one's relationships with people. This doesn't mean that I'm not financially secure; I just think they're the wrong kind of values that seem to be so pervasive in this city.
My kind of fun is climbing mountains, mountain biking, traveling with friends, getting lost, meeting new people, that kind of etcetera. Yes, I know that we've all traveled extensively, but my travels have been a little out of the ordinary. Still, I won't subject you to that (unless you insist:), and please don't think that you'll be roughing it in our travels; we all enjoy being pampered. I can assure you, life will be fun; all I ask from you is a bit of an adventurous spirit.
I tend to not like women who:
- need a boyfriend to feel whole
- go from one to another
- have a "plan B" friend :)
- require a cellphone constantly in hand
- need to be constantly on FB
- follow someone on Twitter
- watch reality TV (ok, I'll admit I have to once in a while)
Does anybody want a companion with any of these qualities?
Quirkiness? Anything "off" about you will probably attract me (you can be yourself around me). I do believe in the perfection of imperfection. I want a well-rounded, fun, and loyal person next to me. Relationships are hard work and I want someone strong enough to ride with me all the ups and downs that life throws at us. I promise you that we'll enjoy ourselves. BTW, I ignore winks; they're so perfunctory.
Please know that I have an unwavering commitment to my ideals and values and that is why I'm a teacher. It is also why I live such a rewarding and accomplished life. My proof is in my relationships with people. I have wonderful friends throughout the world, who I can best describe as saying that they are family to me. Also, I have taught for 17 years in two very low socio-economic neighborhoods of L.A., and it is extremely gratifying to still keep in touch with my ex-students, who have developed into incredible people, going on to major universities and/or becoming honest and productive members of our world. I couldn't ask for more, but I do... and that's why I'll give this a try.
