I guess we're all in the same boat when it comes to starting this lovely 'about me' section, so here goes.... Well, first and foremost...I'm a NoVA native - I know...what a rarity!!! :) and for me (like every other profile, I'm sure :), family and friends are currently a huge part of my life. My parents are wonderful (at least I know I'm biased about that :) and I'm very close with my older sister who has recently made me a first-time aunt! Unfortunately all my family has moved out of state, but thankfully I have some really great friends in the area who are my second family.
Having a career is important to me, but it definitely doesn't define me. When I'm not in the office, I'm most likely out running, in pottery class (I'm currently taking a little hiatus though), volunteering with kids (usually every Weds night), or at happy hour (I like happy hour :). Travel is a necessity and I use runs as an excuse to get out the area (going to Chi-town for the first time ever this year!). I enjoy what I do professionally and my coworkers are like family to me - I've been at the same company for almost 10 years now...I know, yet another rarity! :) Kidding aside though, I know when to leave the office and don't bring it home with me - took a while, but I finally got there :).
I have a wide range of interests and will pretty much try anything once (skydiving was checked off the list last year). Fair warning though - I'm pretty competitive when it comes to PhotoFinder and anything like Name that Tune, board games, and I genuinely enjoy watching most sports (no golf though, please). I like to keep physically active and maintain a strong social circle, but I also consider myself financially responsible. I'm pretty easy going, think I'm pretty funny with a hint of sarcasm at times (there's that biased thing again :), and try not to take the small things too seriously.
It feels kind of odd describing what I'm looking for since I'd think everyone wants the same thing? It would be someone I'm attracted to, of course, but also someone whose friends and family would describe them as a an overall great guy; someone who can make me laugh but knows when to be serious, who is confident without being cocky, can hold a conversation, and a sense of humor is non-negotiable :).
