I believe a successful relationship is built on happiness (okay, and trust and…). If we can help each other smile and achieve happiness, then everything else becomes secondary. I know you won’t let me off the hook that easy, so now on to some of those secondary and tertiary items:
If you are looking for a tall, reasonably fit, educated, tactile, tender, non-egotistical, well-balanced gentleman possessing above-average ambition, curiosity, intelligence, and desire for travel, then you have found the right profile.
The smile you see in my photos is genuine – my kids (adults now) call me laffy-taffy. I’m a relaxed, laid-back person that takes life’s daily bumps and grinds in stride. You will be hard pressed to find anyone that has ever heard me yell or scream. That is not my nature. I don’t recall ever fighting with a spouse, girlfriend, or date (verbal or otherwise). My calmness is often soothing to those around me.
My interests and pursuits have changed over the years – it’s all part of growing. One thing that has been persistent is my desire to travel - to experience the awe of nature and to learn about the area - its people, history, culture, and customs. I've been to more than a dozen countries, but my to-do list is just as long.
For most everyday matters, I’m a logical, reasonable, analytical type person (not quite Mr. Spock, but I am an engineer by training). However, when it comes to matters of the heart, my emotions often take over. You will find a kind, sensitive, and loving person lurking inside that comes out at the appropriate time.
I’m a tactile person with the need to both touch and be touched. You will find me to be a tender, caring lover that is giving and sensitive to your needs. I am a relationship-oriented person. By that I mean I can function as an individual, and may often need my space, but I thrive when I’m in a healthy and focused relationship. The woman who can also stimulate me intellectually will have the inside advantage.
I'm not the life of the party, but I'm very comfortable and confident speaking to an audience of hundreds. I like to keep my brain stimulated, so I tend to enjoy leisurely pursuits that involve an educational or thought-process aspect.
I recently bought a home, and one of my top search criteria was a house with a swimming pool. I could probably use some help with decorating and outside landscaping, so your ideas and suggestions will be warmly welcomed. When not hanging out by the pool, I enjoy good restaurants, fine wine, and great movies.
I do watch some college football and basketball, and will often tune into major league sports during playoff season. However, I am not the kind of person that can watch a game when I don’t follow the teams that are playing. One of my favorite sporting events is the Summer Olympics.
About 20 years ago, I left the comfort of my corporate job to start my own business – something of a double-edged sword. As an owner, I enjoy a large degree of flexibility regarding my schedule, while also being ultimately responsible that everything gets done.
Life threw me a hearing clarity challenge about 10 years ago. Fortunately, I have been able to step to the challenge with help from technological innovations like email, texting, and closed captioning. The ancient technology of face-to-face communications, however, is still the best.
For the record…my stated age is accurate, I look like my pictures, my hair is my own (and not dyed), and I am height/weight proportional.
I started this profile with a note about happiness, and I will now come full circle to end on the same theme. One of my favorite examples comes from John Lennon (and it’s not a song lyric). When asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, his response was “Happy”. His questioner went on to imply he “didn’t understand the question”. John simply replied “Then you don’t understand life.”
