I’m someone who does not fare well when given a blank word document and the task: “Describe yourself and your perfect match to our community.” It turns out that in this situation my brain may actually stop functioning on a cellular level and that I am capable of achieving levels of wit and creativity more frequently seen in zucchini and other vegetables. That said, I do rather well in the real world. I have a BS in Health Sciences, a BSN, and am an RN, working in critical care. I also have great friends and family. My approach to life is to take some chances, experience it as fully as possible, laugh often, and to put forth what I hope to attract. I like to do things well and I believe in working hard and playing often.
Having a stressful job, humor and down time are important to me. During my free time I enjoy surfing, reading, hanging out with friends and family, traveling, and the occasional thrill-seeking moment. I am definitely more drawn to nature than to the party lifestyle and would much rather spend a free day hiking or surfing and then cook dinner, drink some good wine, and play Pictionary with a group of friends than shop in the city all day and spend the night clubbing. My humor is sometimes a bit dark (I’m a nurse, I was raised by a nurse…what do you expect?), but my friends generally appreciate that about me.
School and work have been the main foci of my life for several years. While I remain extremely dedicated and hard working, I am excited to finally be entering a period where I have achieved some major goals, and can begin to focus on other things. I’m interested in traveling, exploring the amazing place in which we live, going to events, and spending more time having fun and relaxing. In short: living more. It would be fun to meet a woman who had interests and passions of her own and with whom I could share mine.
The people to whom I find myself attracted (friends and romantic interests) tend to be those who are comfortable with themselves, enjoy life, and make some sort of positive contribution to the world. They also don’t take themselves too seriously and are able to laugh about things when they don’t go right and about themselves when they act silly. I think that respect for self and others, treating people well, and confidence are very attractive traits. Also attractive are an irreverent sense of humor (or at least an appreciation of mine) and the ability to give (and receive) a little good-natured ribbing now and again. It’s important to me to be healthy and to stay fit and I would like to find someone to whom those things are also important.
I’m pretty sure that I can’t get all the good stuff down in 4000 characters, but if some of this sounds right it’s a good start. Let’s see what happens! Bonus points to surfers, exercisers, health care professionals, and golden-hearted smart-asses. Thanks for reading!
