When the wind is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love
When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one there to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
These are the first two verses of one of my favorite Garth Brooks songs and I think it makes a good place to begin attempting to describe myself to you.
I am a gentleman … a true gentleman … an old fashioned gentleman. You will not open your own doors. If there is only one glass of wine still in the bottle or one hors d’oeuvre left on the tray they belong to you. When the weather is cool, my jacket will be on your shoulders. Whenever you need a sympathetic ear, nobody listens better.
I am a romantic at heart … warm … tender … passionate. Candles are not just for providing light when the power goes out but are also for romantic dinners or setting the atmosphere for love. An evening walk to talk and catch up on our day or to discuss our dreams is enhanced by holding hands. Sharing a cup of coffee while your eyes sparkle in the sunrise or a glass of wine as your smile reflects the sunset … it just doesn’t get any better than that. Nestled in each other’s arms while enjoying a good movie or some beautiful music … ok, maybe it does get a little better.
Sports, horses and horse racing, the theater, comedy clubs, cruises, B&B weekends, quiet evenings at home doing nothing but enjoying each other … these are a few of my favorite things. I have a variety of interests but what’s even more important, at least to me, is that I can’t wait to find out what interests you have that I never knew I might enjoy. I have discovered many interests in that way. Example? I always loved to sing in the shower. The acoustics are so great I sound like I should be on tour … ok, maybe only to myself … but who knew I would actually enjoy sharing my shower voice with others until someone introduced me to Karaoke. Now, I really enjoy an evening at a Karaoke bar listening to others sing as well as belting out a tune or two of my own. Others may or may not be so thrilled that I do … but I have fun. I not only want to continue enjoying the interests I already have but I want to discover what new ones you bring to the table. That’s what life’s all about; don’t you think?
My sense of humor is sometimes dry, sometimes a bit sarcastic, sometimes witty and sometimes just plain silly … but it’s spontaneous not contrived so you really have to get to know me in order to fully appreciate it. You won’t find me trying to be funny just for the sake of being funny … well, maybe once in a while … but that’s when it usually winds up being one of those “just plain silly” moments. I have no trouble laughing at myself, in fact, sometimes I’m my own best material for humor. “A day without laughter is a day wasted.” (Quote by Charlie Chaplin)
Whew! … If you’ve read all the way to the end of my profile then you either found something interesting or provocative about me or you have a serious case of insomnia. I truly hope it’s the former and that you’re intrigued enough to write me. You might even say something like: “Hi, I read your profile and I think I might like to get to know you. To be honest, I’m not entirely sure I do but maybe we can talk and see how it goes.” I’ll take that … it’s a start … and we need to start someplace, right? One more thing you deserve if you've read this far is an explanation. I'm sure you noticed that my "relationship" is listed as currently separated. I checked that box because I felt that is the most honest answer only because my divorce is not yet final but I am in the process of divorce and I am available mind, body and soul for that special woman who I'm sure is out there. Is it you? There's only one way we'll ever know. Write me and let's find out.
