My friends describe me as a genuine, honest, happy and easy going guy. They also are shockingly surprised and amazed that I recently finished an Ironman triathlon and now the Frogman Swim across Tampa Bay, a 3.1 mile cross bay swim fundraiser for the families of fallen Navy Seals.
I guess I like to do things that inspire others. My friends are often overheard describing me to others; I’ll share a couple of their comments:
He lives vicariously through himself
He once had an awkward moment, just to see how it felt
When it rains, it’s because he is thinking sad thoughts
His shirts never wrinkle
He can identify UFOs
Mosquitos refuse to bite him purely out of respect
In museums he is allow to touch the art
He has won the lifetime achievement award twice
He bowls overhand
He is fluent in all languages including three that only he speaks
Once while sailing around the world he discovered a short cut
On another note - when it comes to a relationship the words of my later Mother seem true and wise – “seek a partner that wants to give more than they expect to receive and you must do the same for her.” It is the Ying Yang philosophy.
While I cannot speak for what my future partner wants in a relationship I can speak to why I think a loving relationship makes me a better person, a better man. When I find the right woman is seems all the other aspects of my life fall into place and that makes me a better man. I think a good woman keeps me balanced, centered, social, focused, motivated, challenged and stable. She is a supportive force in my life; her treating me like I am capable and a deserving guy makes me a capable and deserving guy. She helps me see the best in me. I look to mirror similar aspects to her so she can be all she wants to be. Together with this approach I believe it is the best prescription for a loving, long lasting relationship.
In general the beach lifestyle, coupled with good friends make for a happy day for me. I can’t cook, dance, tell a good joke, or write a dating profile, but I do have big feet and I am a good companion and sometimes I will make you smile as I hope I have here.
