I was born in Pacific Palisades but grew up half the time in Monterey/Carmel. I went to college right between the two in San Luis Obispo. I'm a true Californian and I love my home. There is so much here. We can snowboard and surf in the same day. We have one of the richest economies and most diverse populations of all the states. We can drive up north a few hours to camp in Big Sur for a weekend or a few hours south to cross the border into another country with many beautiful attractions (despite the stigma) or east just as far and find beautiful mountains covered with snow and evergreens. I love to travel and see new places, but I'm proud to call this place home.
To me life is about adventures. If for no other reason than they're all that I really remember... You might be able to jog that memory of some night 10 years ago that we saw some movie or had great food at some restaurant, but those things alone will never significantly impact who I am. It's the nights spent lost in the desert with friends. It's the weekends spent surfing or camping. It's the hours before dawn spent taking pictures of the sky. It's the spontaneous plane flights purchased hours before departure. It's making it through college and then taking part in Mars exploration. But most of all, it's the relationships we have with the people we meet. They are the greatest adventures of all.
