I'm a rare creature -- otherwise known as a Florida native! Okay, so I'm a first generation, so maybe not a "full-blooded" native, but even that has to count for something. I love some of this state's quirky history and unique culture and still have a lot to see and do down here. I have spent the past couple years as an English teacher -- I've had a taste of different age levels of students. I'd have to say that each level has its advantages and disadvantages, but they all have their own ways of keeping things interesting! I have anecdotes that involve everything from stowaway lizards, falling ceilings, field trips to the public works facility, campus lockdowns, and several near death experiences involving skateboards. It’s a job where learning on your feet, learning from experience, and always learning are important things. Are those important to you as well? Right now my job is split between teaching and some administrative work, so I have been getting a lot of varied experience. In the few years I have been working so far, I've gotten to teach a lot of different classes. This semester I am teaching drama as literature. Drama? I thought I'd be in over my head with this one, but it is turning out to be one of the best class dynamics that I've had with students. Go figure! And people always say that they want to avoid it ;) Like most people I like the idea of traveling. This summer my entire family -- down to my two year old nephew-- went to the keys for the weekend. It was wonderful, suffocating heat and all! I also went to Washington DC for the first time this summer and loved being immersed in all the history. I was really moved by the Jefferson Memorial. Funny what hits you sometimes, isn't it? I am looking for someone who, like me, has a lot of different interests and who is generally comfortable in his own skin. I try my best to be optimistic and open to new ideas, and would appreciate someone with a similar outlook. It is important to me to be positive, loyal, and communicative, as I would do my best to be so in return. It seems that complementary personalities is an important thing that many of us are looking for, and I understand that it takes some time to get to know someone. It can be easy for anyone to seem shy at first. Thanks for the time you took to read my "blurb," and I look forward to maybe hearing from you.
