I've been in the DC area for the past seven years. Prior to that I lived in California (near San Francisco) for ten years, and before that, Louisiana for ten years as well. I've thoroughly enjoyed the diverse culture and opportunity for enrichment that the DC area brings. The capitol and monuments never disappoint (though I have yet to see them at night, which I hear is quite beautiful), and I love that the beaches, New York, and the mountains are all within a few hours drive from here. I have come to thoroughly embrace my dynamic personality that allows me to easily transition from enjoying wine while watching polo or picnicking at my favorite wineries to watching the game at a local sports bar with a rum and coke in hand. I thrive in changing environments and because of that it's very likely that you will see me easily change from a cocktail dress to pearls and playing hostess to jeans and a tee. I believe, or at least hope, that my southern upbringing, experiences, and well-rounding nature has helped shape me into the grounded, ambitious woman that I am today that values humility, a strong sense of morales, and a passion for life.
I work hard as an Federal IT risk consultant and dabble on the side in graphic and web design to keep my sense of creativity alive. I ride horses, which has been a passion of mine since I was four and had my first pony. I believe it's good for the mind, body, and soul to give back, so I engage in volunteer work ranging from the National Rehabilitation Hospital, to local animal shelters, and Toys for Tots which I have been active with for over 10 years. I enjoy all the normal activities: movies, concerts, travel, etc. Don't be fooled by appearances; I'm pretty out-doorsy too - know how to use firearms, compound bows, fish, camp, etc. I'd love to be more active but it's hard to get other people motivated and organized to go do things that requires leaving the city (shark diving anyone? Ok, ok, I'll start off with something easier like hiking, a winery trip, or deep sea fishing). And for good measure - one random fact about me, I try to never eat at the same restaurant twice. There are just too many good places to eat to limit your food experiences to the same places over and over again!
Family is very important to me as is my independence and intellectual stimulation. I like the concept of having a partner, an "equal" in life, pursuing goals together and supporting one another, and who is happy that I have my own goals, hobbies, accomplishments, and endeavors. I'm a very dedicated person, and though it's been a bit of a double edged sword for me, I'm proud of my loyalty to my commitments whether it's to work, family, friends, volunteer work or relationships.
With that said, I'm really not looking for something specific, especially given that you will never find something if you are seeking it. I'm just opening myself up to the opportunity to cross paths with the right person and makes friends along the way.
