A bit about myself...
I'm 5'1", 480 LBS and am really into Japanese animation, abstract mathematics, and obsessively enjoy the McRib when it's in season. I'm also allergic to the sun and overhead fluorescent lighting, and prefer to be sheltered from all social interactions such that they may not impinge on my already shattered view of normalcy. My first and only crush was on the girl from Hanson until I found out that she was a he a few months ago. I spent my last Valentine's Day night watching the 135th showing of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Okay, so most of that isn't true (sadly, that last part is)...resetting in 3..2..1...
Hi! My name is Jon, and I was born and raised in Shangri-La a.k.a. the earthly paradise that is sunny Southern California. As such, I've developed a tremendous love for the ocean and mountains. As a kid, I loved playing sports and being outdoors, and that passion remains with me to this day. As I teenager I discovered music, started playing guitar (electric and acoustic), and my lifelong love affair with it will likely follow me for the rest of my life. I try to get in the ocean and surf every day/night. Weather and daylight/date night permitting of course...
I'm a UCLA graduate with a bachelors degree in Neuroscience, so naturally I took everything that I learned about the central and peripheral nervous systems and parlayed that into developing a saltwater aquarium design, installation, and maintenance business. Makes sense, right? Viola! Afishionado L.L.C. was born. I know it sounds strange, but it's a long story and a nice creative outlet. Ultimately, I would like to work in the medical field as a physician or as a physician's assistant, or at the very least make a living doing something that I love.
There is nothing more important to me in this world than my family and friends. I love my mom and sister with all that I am. They've always supported and loved me, and my debt to them is lifetime. My dad was the most extraordinary man I've ever known. His passion, intellect, discipline, and altruism are something I try to emulate, and I love and miss him every day of my life. I don't have a vast social network of friends and acquaintances, but the friends I do have are the kind of people that would give me the shirt off of their back if it were the last one they owned. They are my kind, and I would do the same for them.
So this brings me to match.com. I am, admittedly by nature, an introverted and introspective individual and find it tough to meet new people with similar ideals and interests as myself. I try very hard to be the person I want to be. I like to think of myself as being trustworthy, loyal, and kind. I'm probably not as smart, clever, or funny as I would like to think that I am, and I always appreciate people that can teach me something about anything. I'm guilty of having a sarcastic, dry sense of humor and try to find laughter in everything I do. I love early mornings, neon nights, electric lives, food and wine, the spark of the divine, things that rhyme, etc. I'm a lover, not a fighter...but I'm also a fighter so don't get any ideas! (that was for you, dad!) I love guitars and pianos. Anything with a rhythm is the most sublime thing in the world to me. I love the beach and the snow and most of what nature has to offer. More than this, I love to go as far as I can for as long as I can, to throw myself against the walls of limitation and inability, succeed or fail, and learn something about myself. I try and ride life straight to perfect laughter. I've been told it's the only good fight there is.
Wow. I still have some characters left. so. how's it going?. how about a bad biology joke? What's the difference between an enzyme and a hormone?...You can't make an enzyme...okay, that was lame, I've embarrassed myself, and I'm done.
