Hey there. I moved to Durham a few years ago and I love the dirty-D. Work keeps me pretty busy (the adage 'publish or perish' is so, so true), but if there's one thing I learned in grad school it's that making time to relax is super important. In fact, I used to think I was an introvert because I'm so comfortable spending time alone, but now I realize I'm pretty extroverted. I love hanging out with friends and exploring events around town or just grabbing a beer. In general, I like to think that I'm pretty down to earth, but I know I can be a bit type-A at times. Some words that describe me are optimistic, honest, organized, and adventurous. I'm a scientist so analytical should probably also be on that list but it doesn't sound very exciting.
I love traveling, and have done a fair amount of domestic and international traveling in the past; my favorite experience so far has been my trip to Ethiopia. There are still a lot of things I want to do in my life, and here are just a few: ride an elephant, visit the pyramids of Egypt, go on safari in Africa, lay on the beach in Fiji, scuba dive on the Great Barrier Reef, swim with a great white shark (in a cage of course, I'm not insane), and go skydiving. If any of these sounds like fun to you, then I expect we would get along pretty well.
To be honest I’m not really sure what I’m looking for on here, but then I guess that's true for a lot of people. Mostly I'd like to make some new connections, either romantic or friendly. My idea of a fun time is stimulating conversation over a meal or coffee/beer, so if you think that's something you would be interested in, feel free to drop me a line.
