I've been living and working abroad for five years (Osaka, Japan and Beijing mostly) but decided I needed to get back to the US for a bit and make sure I'm not one of those dorky American guys who lives in Asia forever because they get a lot of attention. You'd be surprised how many expats get stuck abroad for that reason. I decided on San Fran for the sailing and outdoor sports and absolutely love it.
My hobbies include windsurfing, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding and scuba. I've been racing sailboats since I was very young and taught/coached sailing teams for a couple years in college. I'm working my way into the racing scene in the Bay here and found a few great racing programs. Actually I just bought my first sailboat in December and she lives in Berkeley. Play your cards right and it might end up named after you haha! Every girl's dream, right?
I also like reading everything from Bukowski to Murakami and I love the nytimes.com, the Economist, wired.com and the Atlantic. HBO shows are a guilty pleasure, but I always wait until they hit DVD since I can't watch one episode at a time. I have a bit of an addictive personality like that. Just got into The Newsroom and it's incredible! If you've watched a couple episodes and don't like it, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't get along : ) But seriously.
On the weekend, I like getting drinks in the city, sailing on the bay or going for a day hike.
I guess I should mention something about my personality, since I heard somewhere that girls care about that sort of thing. I'm very sarcastic and my humor is dry but I'm actually a very kind person and a very good listener. I'm the one who is still good friends with my guy friends from college even though they don't stay in touch. Same way at my office actually. I guess it's because I can focus on people's good sides and I don't let anything get under my skin.
Looking for someone who is easy-going but driven, up for outdoor adventures and crazy trips, and above all, wants to tear it up in this ridiculously awesome city!
