ABOUT HER & WHO SHE'S LOOKING FOR

Hi, I'm Jessica! I'm the Editor-in-Chief of a newspaper in Baltimore and spent my days split between work and school where I'm finishing my B.A. in Jurisprudence from The University of Baltimore. I'm a photojournalist at heart (food, arts, entertainment, and sports). I'm also in the process of working on a book proposal. I graduated from culinary school in 2011, specializing in international cuisine. My education is my primary focus, although I'd love to have someone to share my life experiences with—I go to a lot of fun events and games (perks of the job). Otherwise in my life, my dogs and family are important and I have a large social circle, so I'm always getting in to something.

I enjoy a fine wine (although some of the best wines are under $10) and do enjoy local wines, great food (I love to cook and bake and I consider myself a bit of a gourmet, but I enjoy a variety of cuisines), watching and participating in most sports and outdoor activities (I’m a huge MD Terps fan!), learning new things, playing softball, sailing/boating, photography, visiting museums, and spending time with family friends. I consider myself to be a great conversationalist, I excel at trivia, and enjoy new challenges and adventures. I go to the indoor batting cages near my house 2-3 times a week; it’s a great workout and really helps me relieve stress… if I’ve had a bad day—I’m there!

I speak English (surprised?), Spanish, Sarcasm (it's an official language, right?), Hebrew, and Yiddish (although I’ve lost some of the Yiddish over the years since my Grandmother passed away) fluently. I believe a strong support system is a reflection on the person and although my family is quirky (that’s mild) they have always been there for me. My best qualities are probably my patience, honesty, and sense of humor.

In the past I have had some fun jobs: ESPN Radio as an on-air talent (apparently I’m funny) and in promotions; covered game-day action for MLB; was a flight attendant for half a second (queue the mile high jokes); and founded an event planning firm in South Florida.

Books—I enjoyed True Compass, Ted Kennedy’s memoir; I am currently alternating between At The Fights, The Warmth of Other Suns, and Hands on the Freedom Plow. I read a lot of non-fiction (biography, history, law, and cookbooks).

TV—most of my favorite TV shows are off the air now, such as Law and Order, Friends, ER, and Cold Case. I watch documentaries (Dateline, 48 hours, etc.) SportsCenter, Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and The Good Wife. I don't enjoy drama in my personal life, but I do like to live vicariously through Bravo shows. I love watching old 1960's TV shows: Bewitched, Dragnet, I Dream of Jeanie, Get Smart, etc.

Movies—I do like romcoms and enjoy "regular" comedies too. Action, drama, docudramas, and documentaries are all solid options, but I'm not a fan of sci-fi or horror movies.

Music—I love everything with the exception of most techno, classical, and some opera. I love 80's, 90's, R and B, Soul, Neo Soul, Old School Hip Hop, Top 40, Classic Rock, and Latin music. Some of my favorite artists at the moment are John Legend, Corinne Bailey Rae, Jhene Aiko and Sade.

Food—I’m a culinary school graduation, so I obviously love food. I'll eat just about anything with the exception of anything too spicy because I'm not a fan of the ugly cry. Weird fact: I’m allergic to chicken.

I don't really have a laundry list of things that I am looking for. If attraction and chemistry is there, we can see what happens and where it takes us. If I'm not feeling it, I'll be honest and straight forward, and if I feeling it, you'll know. That being said, I don't have a "type", but have a good sense of whether it's something I would pursue early on. Crazies, needy ones, and jealous guys need not apply; I'm very independent, but loyal to a fault.
