Recently moved from Los Angeles, I am a physician at NYU. I am an anesthesiologist and yes, I put people to sleep during surgery. It's what I do. It's one of the reasons I am still single, girls tend to fall asleep when they talk to me :)
I am looking to go into Critical Care since my most memorable time as a doctor was in the Medical Intensive Care Unit taking care of really sick patients and helping their families. But there is always a lighter side too, this week I got hit on by my old patient. She's 90 yrs old, iam listening to her heart with my stethoscope and she reaches over and smacks my behind and says "you like it, don't you", I said "how could I not like it?" then she looks at me and starts laughing. That made my day.
I absolutely love traveling, I recently came back from China where I volunteered at a hospital in rural China for doctors without borders. While I didn't speak any mandarin, It was an amazing experience since I got to help people and also learn about traditional Chinese therapies like tuina, Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture. Africa is next.
