I know, I know everyone on this website LOVES to travel and loves their family more than anything else. Now, I’m not doubting the veracity of these statements, I’m just going to throw it out there that I’d smile if I saw someone write “my parents are great people, but they can be a handful--every once in a while I tell them I’m going to put them in a home,” or “traveling is awesome but people who bring kids on planes should be prepared to buy the rest of us a round of drinks.” LOL, I think I have an aversion to people who take themselves too seriously!
So if you’re not offended, here are some basic Joanna fun facts--I grew up in Brooklyn and survived public school. I did a BA at Fordham University in Journalism and then a BE at CCNY in Mechanical Engineering. I've had a lot of fun changing careers! After working as a reporter I was a project manager for Engineers Without Borders and got to work in villages in Honduras. Now I work for the US Army--and these tales I can't disclose on a dating website, but maybe in person ;-)
...Ok and here, with absolutely zero transition, are my thoughts on winking: If you're like me (not the "she's also the oldest child, non-smoker who loves dogs") you get alerts on your smartphone. With a wink the email alert only contains a photo--no witty dating headline or the first few lines of your profile (that hopefully doesn't read "I'm confident yet modest, passionate yet calm, and serious yet humorous" like the sample profiles I find endlessly hysterical). They're easy to miss and I think a two-sentence email is a lot more engaging than a photo. So best of luck that everyone finds what they're looking for =0)
