I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for, I'm hoping I'll recognize it when I find it. And that doesn't just refer to dating, that statement is broadly applicable to many areas of my life...I choose to believe that this is a result of open mindedness rather than indecision, but the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.
That is one of the reasons I love to travel and try new things, I'll give almost anything a go before deciding if I like it or hate it.
Lucky for me I get to travel for a living as a nurse. My contracts usually last at least a few months, leaving ample time to explore what different areas have to offer. I'm currently in Las Vegas and I like the area so I may stick around for a while even though the lack of humidity is killing me.
I'm passionate about College Football, so if you're a CFB fan as well we'll always have something to talk about! (Except Auburn fans. I have nothing to say to them.) Like any good Louisiana girl I love the LSU Tigers and brown likker. Thanks to the sports blog Every Day Should be Saturday my interest has grown from just LSU to CFB in general, with a heavy SEC bias of course.
But now it's the offseason, so to pass the time I'm exploring the area and meeting new people. My current project is getting back in shape, I was a gym rat for years before training for a marathon for charity. I crossed the finish line, sat on my butt, and never got back up! But laziness finally caught up to me (and my waistline) so I've started working out again. I need to lose about 15 more lbs to get back down to my marathon weight, it's coming off pretty steadily since I started being active again. But I don't want to overstate my fitness level, even when I was in the best shape of my life I've never been super athletic. I just do what I can to stay healthy and keep my girlish figure. :-)
I love scuba diving, but sadly I'm prone to seasickness. I won't let that stop me, but it does mean that I'll be looking for more shore diving options for future trips. I haven't been in a while, but I'd love to go again ASAP. I'll happily go alone, but it would be more fun if I could find a dive buddy. My favorite spots so far are the Great Barrier Reef (obvious), the lesser known Ningaloo Reef, and the Yucatan Peninsula (the Cenotes are magical). I've had the good fortune to swim with whale sharks twice, but have always missed the actual whales (missed the Minke whales by one day in Australia, but we heard them on the last dive).
What else can I say? I love to laugh, though my sense of humor is very dry and often pretty dark. Gallows humor comes in handy in the medical profession. I have a broad range of interests and can usually find something to talk (or argue) about with anyone.
I work 12 hour night shifts so my schedule is always random, but it does make for the perfect excuse to spend the whole day in bed, preferably with someone. ;-)
Geaux Tigers!
