I'm looking for a lady with a positive, energetic and engaging personality who loves people. Someone who knows what she wants, sets goals and cherishes family and friends. She will be fun-loving, curious about the world around her, and someone who "does" rather than "says".
I'm secure in myself and enjoy good, challenging conversation. I certainly don't have all the answers and look forward to other insights. Five keys to happiness I've found: (1) Don't let stuff own you - it's about relationships, (2) Focus on giving, not receiving - it's not about YOU, and (3) Stay engaged, curious, always ask questions - don't pretend you have all the answers - you don't, and (4) Do work you love, and (5) take care of your body - don't abuse it. I love a day at the beach, an after-work walk, listening to my favorite tunes on my nano after work, how I feel after a good workout. I love almost all kinds of music - but mainly modern country [as well as some classic] and classic rock. George Strait, Vince Gill, Martina McBride, Lorrie Morgan, Adele, Alan Jackson, the Eagles, Don Henley, Tina Turner, Kenny Chesney, that new guy - Kip Moore - and Tim McGraw are some of my favorites. Oh, and Cristie McVie and Stevie Nicks - I'll always be their fans. I am a realist who knows that life can be challenging, but rewarding to those who actively engage with the world and get outside their comfort zones often enough to stay energized and ready for the next challenge. I do volunteer work to give back to the community. I love my career (oil and gas accounting) and it has been good to me. If you have a producing oil or gas royalty interest, I may have been responsible for paying you! If I get ready to try something else, I'm sure it will be teaching - probably at the college level - perhaps accounting, American history (which I love), or Microsoft skillsets. I am an avid reader (primarily biographies, history, and anything delving into social justice. Domestic and international travel have always been a part of who I am. I'm a timeshare owner who actually gets his money's worth - lately all parts of Italy have been my stage, as I have a daughter, son-in-law, and 4 granddaughters (ages 1,3, 5, and 7) living in Naples (courtesy of U. S. Navy). It all comes to an end in early December '12 when their 3-yr tour commitment ends and they transition to civilian life in Houston. One last adventure awaits us prior to their return - a two-week visit to Amsterdam, Brussels and Denmark in September. I'm Dutch-German on my dad's side and want to see Husum, northern Germany (Holstein country) - the town from which my paternal side of the family emigrated to Manhattan - way back in 1635! My maternal side is Scotch-Irish. I encourage everyone to do ancestral research. The stuff you find out will amaze and you will always have stories to tell - both 'complimentary' and 'of questionable merit'.
Good luck on your search for your perfect match.
